Healthy Apple Cinnamon Crisp

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Crisp Topping:

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 1/2 cup almond flour (or whole wheat flour)

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (or coconut sugar)

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 cup plant-based butter, melted

Instructions

1. Prepare the Apple Filling:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.

2. Make the Crisp Topping:

  • In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, almond flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

  • Pour in the melted plant-based butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly and well combined.

3. Assemble the Crisp:

  • Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased 9x9 inch baking dish.

  • Evenly sprinkle the crisp topping over the apples.

4. Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
