Healthy Apple Cinnamon Crisp
Ingredients
For the Filling:
4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the Crisp Topping:
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup almond flour (or whole wheat flour)
1/4 cup brown sugar (or coconut sugar)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup plant-based butter, melted
Instructions
1. Prepare the Apple Filling:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
2. Make the Crisp Topping:
In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, almond flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Pour in the melted plant-based butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly and well combined.
3. Assemble the Crisp:
Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased 9x9 inch baking dish.
Evenly sprinkle the crisp topping over the apples.
4. Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
